Important 2018 Tax Deadlines

As the New Year comes and goes we can’t forget the important dates and deadlines set by the IRS. Here are the dates and descriptions of each important deadline for the calendar tax year 2018 **.
January 16th, 2018
4th Quarter estimated tax payments are due for tax year 2017.
January 31st, 2018
W-2 forms are to be filed and distributed to recipients. All annual information statements (Forms 1099) are due to recipients for most payments, including: dividends, interest, rent, royalties, retirement plan distributions, cash payments over $10,000, original issue discount, prizes and awards, medical and health care payments, debt cancellation and miscellaneous income for workers who are not considered employees.
February 15th, 2018
All 1099 forms must be filed with the IRS for proceeds from broker and barter exchange transactions, proceeds from real estate transactions and gross proceeds paid to an attorney.
February 20th, 2018
The deadline for Form 5076, the Small Business Property Tax Exemption Claim is due.
March 15th, 2018
Form 1065, the tax return required for Partnerships is due.
March 15th, 2018
Form 1120S, the tax return required for S Corporations is due. Form 2553 to be treated as an S-Corporation is also due for the 2018 tax year.
April 2nd, 2018
Electronic filing of forms W-2 are due.
April 17th, 2018
Form 1040, the tax return due for individuals is due.
April 17th, 2018
FinCEN 114, foreign bank account reporting required by FinCEN is due.
April 17th, 2018
1st Quarter estimated tax payments are due for tax year 2018 for individuals and C Corporations.
April 17th, 2018
Form 1120, the tax return for C Corporations is due. Any tax due must also be paid by this date.
June 15th, 2018
2nd Quarter estimated tax payments are due for the tax year 2018
September 17th, 2018
3rd Quarter estimated tax payments are due for the 2018 tax year
September 17th, 2018
Form 1065 for partnership returns and Form 1120-S for S-Corporations are due if an extension was filed timely.
October 15th, 2018
Individual tax returns and Form 1120 for corporations are due if an extension was filed timely.
December 15th, 2018
4th quarter estimated tax payments are due for C Corporations.
** Fiscal year business filers follow different filing guidelines based on 3-month quarters.
